![]() I detest Project as much as everyone else, and love Omniplan, but my client uses it and insists on receiving files in Project. The Omniplan, XML and MS Project files are attached for the three task test in case that is helpful. You really ought to contact the OmniPlan support ninjas via Help->Send Feedback (which will allow you to attach a copy of your project file with the sensitive information obscured). ![]() That's the only way to make sure that someone who knows the ins and outs of the program sees it in a timely fashion. I don't have any MP experience, nor a copy of it to play with, so I can't really offer any suggestions. If you have dragged things around on the OmniPlan Gantt chart, that schedules specific start dates for those tasks rather than letting them fall where the constraints would otherwise allow. Microsoft Project is a simple, yet powerful tool to manage work from quick projects to more complex initiatives. If you select all the tasks in your project and click the Reset button in the Task Information inspector to set them all to be scheduled as early as constraints allow, then export to MP, does the resulting document work properly (ignoring any issues about how some things aren't starting at the right time because you didn't have fixed dates for them in OP)? Not proposing this as a solution, just a way to get a start on isolating the problem, of course. With Project, anyone can get started quickly and collaborate with remote teams anywhere. ![]() I highly recommend that you download and try the to see what suits you best.Project managers or teams that love quality software for Mac and iPad. I don’t know of a way of going from OF to Omniplan yet - it’s a heavily requested feature and may come in future some time.īoth Merlin and Omniplan have trial versions. There’s a script to import from Omnifocus into Merlin. If it matters, both can import/export from/to MS Project OP 3, in development, may change the balance. In current versions, I’d say that Merlin is a better solution for very large, complex projects and for handling multiple projects OP is great for less complex projects. It’s pretty good, but having already invested in OP and Merlin for the Mac, I didn’t fancy spending more on SGP. I’ve used SG Project Pro on IOS (not on Mac). However, the IOS version of OP is very fully featured. Collaboration and synchronisation via Omnisync Server (or your own WebDav works well) and is free - but you have to buy the IOS version. I prefer Merlin’s use of screen space, but I think the Omni UI is overall better. Omniplan is more accessible, but has a more limited feature set (although Omniplan 3, in test at present, adds some major new features). The latest version (Merlin Project 3) has some good UI improvements. The IOS version of Merlin is free but very very limited indeed. ![]() Collaboration and synchronisation to phones/tablets is clunky and full collaboration means having to pay extra for Merlin Server. The user interface isn’t especially intuitive, but it’s very functional. It has a very “serious” interface, more like MS Project than Omniplan. Merlin has some features that Omniplan currently doesn’t, mainly around managing costs. They each have their benefits and disadvantages. ![]()
